The Open Spaces Committee now includes the management of allotments and Cemetery burials. Many of our beautiful open spaces are Conservation Areas, where the Planning Committee keep a close eye on applications and support Buckinghamshire Councils Planning authorities in ensuring listed buildings and places of special interest are subjected to minimal alterations.
The Parish Council employs two Assistant Groundsman, Shane Read and Tom Enticknap who work with Roland Carson to cut and strim the grass in the Parish open spaces as well as attend to all the jobs which crop up around the Parish on a daily basis. From 1 April 2016, work previously undertaken by Buckinghamshire County Council, was devolved to Wooburn & Bourne End Parish Council. They help to keep our parish open spaces, grass verges, hedges and footpaths well cared for.
These notable open spaces include Wooburn Park, Wooburn Green, Penny's Corner, Dinnie's Riverside at Bourne End Marina, Farm Wood and The Warren Wood. You'll find the children's play areas in Wooburn Park, Blind Lane, Bourne End Recreation Ground, Watery Lane, Holtspur and Sappers Field (currently Closed). They are well tended, play equipment is maintained by our Groundsmen, and the Play Inspection company check each one of them every year. Damage by vandalism means that repairing and renewing is an ongoing occupation!
